BEGGING IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!!

Greetings beloved,it is believed that;

 

“Begging is the second oldest profession in the world”

Since it  appears in many myths,legends or stories of many cultures of the world.I want to talk about a subject that is very sensitive since it touches on leadership and most especially ministry in general.

I believe begging can be Done in many forms ie in church or outside church.

2 kings 5:

20] But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him.

[21] So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well?

[22] And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.

[23] And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him.

 

From the account above we see Gehazi a servant of Elisha,the man of God went after Naaman to get “somewhat of him” 

This Is a danger that lies before the ministers of the gospel:getting something from those we minister to,allow me to call this BEGGING but it has to be done in a way the person begging doesn’t use their name but a higher authority(leader,ministry or even God HIMSELF) or the poor JUST as in the case above where Gehazi had to lie about a supposed responsibility to house inaginary people in his life.

ARE YOU ASKING FOR FINANCIAL HELP TO MEET YOUR NEED IN THE NAME OF MINISTRY,THE POOR OR THE LORD?

One day I was having a conversation with a man of God,a mentor and friend and we came to a conclusion that begging in the name of the LORD is as a result of poverty!! Those who use ministry and the gospel to beg do so because they are POOR.Such begging goes another level and dangerous when we use the needy,ministers or even worse GOD!They do so simply because they haven’t dealt with the spirit of poverty  and that’s why they suffer the effect even after they have been promoted into higher levels of ministry.

2 peter 2:

And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make MERCHANDISE of you: whose judgment now of a long time …

peter gives us another reason why one may beg in the name of the LORD that is covetousness,a lying tongue(feigned words).sometimes people(minister and members) beg in the house of God because they are deceived(deception).The danger is that it attracts the JUDGMENT OF GOD!!Gehazi was cursed with leprosy while those peter addresses were sternly warned of an impending doom “WHOSE JUDGMENT”…lingers..

What should I do?

1.Face “your demons” now;deal with your enemies now before you go into ministry,The children of Israel went through the wilderness for 40 years God took them that direction to fight their enemies before they enter the promised land,beloved fight your battles now or you will later:poverty,covetousness,greed etc.

2.understand your gift,calling or ministry;This is done in the place of prayer:

Ephesians 1:

16] Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my PRAYERS;

[17] That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of WISDOM and REVELATION in the knowledge of him:

[18] The eyes of your UNDERSTANDING being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
